From Captain Adam Jasser:

This is the second year in a row my former sailing students from the US, will be participating as crew on the Sail Training Ship POGORIA, sailing this September from Cherbourg, France to Poland and the next year to Poland from Rouen, France. There are only six berths available. This offer is being made on a first come, first serve basis. The professional crew the STS POGORIA consists of ten persons: captain, four officers, boatswain and assistant, engineer and mechanic and one or two cooks.

The POGORIA exemplifies the perfect balance of tall ship tradition with modern standards in design, materials and equipment. All life saving equipment meets or exceeds the requirements set by international conventions and registries. Every professional crew member has been thoroughly trained to handle and respond to emergency communication equipment and first-aid provisions. All trainees must participate in regularly practiced emergency drills.

The STS POGORIA was built in 1980 for the Iron Shackle Fraternity, a marine educational project sponsored by the Polish National Television. She was built at the famous Gdansk's Shipyard, the cradle of the Solidarity movement. The STS POGORIA has logged over 500,000 miles worldwide calling at each of the world's seven continents.

Doctor Rick Beebe, a Psychologist from Madison, Wisconsin and a participant in the 1998 Summer Cruise: "I was impressed with the excellent condition and maintenance of the vessel. I enjoyed the professional crew and felt that they were very adapted at dealing with the ever changing and different levels of ability of the students. I was impressed with he discipline, motivation and consideration of the young people on the trip. I enjoyed the pre-POGORIA activities with Captain Adam Jasser and the trip on the sailing vessel Bonawentura."
